Gabe Stefanizzi

Gabe Stefanizzi, CPA, CA, is a Partner at BDO Canada LLP, a National Accounting Firm, based in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, with over 30 years of experience in the accounting and assurance industry.  Specifically, he has been focused on school boards, First Nations, not for profit organizations and private enterprises.  As a leader in Business Services & Outsourcing (BSO), Gabe provides tailored solutions that allow clients to focus on their core mission while ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

During his professional career he has volunteered his time with various church groups, theatre and hockey associations.  Since 2008 he has spent considerable time volunteering with the local hospital foundation both supporting and promoting local healthcare.

In November 2024, Gabe was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer – ALK Positive and not having smoked a day in his life.   Because it is such a rare or mis-diagnosed cancer, it was initially difficult to find similar patients, people to connect with.  Once connected with ALK members of this group, it was quite an easy transition to become a contributor.

Gabe is a proud father of two young adult daughters and a beautiful wife who is the pillar to this journey.  He enjoys family time at the cottage, travelling, golf and running outside of his professional career.

His renewed passion for healthcare is driving his advocacy for support for Canadians living with ALK.
