Winhan Wong
At 42, Win was diagnosed with stage 4 non-small cell adenocarcinoma lung cancer with the ALK-positive mutation. Despite his diagnosis, he has never missed a day of work in the past eight years, thanks to his non-traditional work hours. His diagnosis became a catalyst for creating unforgettable memories with family and friends, leading him to travel to different parts of East Asia, Europe, USA, Hawaii, and most recently Peru, where he completed the four-day Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu.
Navigating treatment has been anything but easy, especially when accessing life-saving drugs during periods of disease progression. However, with determination and unwavering support from his wife, he has continued to thrive.
In his spare time, Win enjoys playing tennis, pickleball, and hockey. He married his high school sweetheart, Lindsay, and together they have two wonderful children, Hailey (20) and Kaleb (18), who, in his eyes, still see their dad as just "dad"—not someone battling cancer.
Beyond his own journey, Win is a dedicated advocate for the ALK-positive community, continuously supporting others facing the same battle.
No matter the obstacles, Win embraces life with adventure and resilience—so let the travels continue!
